Charles H. Arbon was born in Eriswell in 1917 (Mildenhall Q2-1917 4A:1341), son of Maud ARBON.
CWGC have his parents as William and Maria ARBON but they were his grandparents.
Possibly it was his mother who married Robert C (Ernest) BASS in Bury St Edmunds in Q4-1917 and in 1939 were at Park Cottage, The Avenue, Newmarket.

He married Jane Anne GILCHRIST in Hillhead, Glasgow on 31st January 1942. Jane apparently had a son, in 1945 (Basford Q1-1945) who was adopted later when Jane married Frederick James PICTON in Glasgow in 1946.

He is attributed to the 2nd Battalion, The Buffs, but was probably with the 5th as the 2nd had moved on to the Far East. The 5th were in Tunisia and later in Sicily It was the time of the battle for Long Stop Hill in Tunisia, the Buffs trying to take Djebel Rhar. They had four killed on this day.

Charles was initially buried at Maharine 2:G:31 but moved on 9th August 1944.
